March 14th & 21st
Week 3/14/2011
This week has been a good one. So we are pretty much tired out of our minds but I wouldn’t have it any other way ha ha. Something amazing about the conferences is that between the first and the last one I had learned and changed it so much that it was not even close to the same (I had to teach for an hour to all just by myself). It was a really neat experience. This week coming up we have changes...I think my companion is going...and then Monday we have to supervise the changes...and then Tuesday we have to pick up new missionaries...10 I don’t know how we are going to do that with two cars ha ha and then on Friday we have to train the new missionaries that just got here ha ha. I love my job lol.
Anyways, I’m not sure if I have told you guys yet but the office is changing location while I’m here and so starting now we need to send packages to the following address " Sucursal Correo Patronato, cassila 60. I have no idea what I want for my b-day you will have to give me a week to think about it.
Go heels! ha ha that a baby.
la verdad es que a veces cuando escribo pierdo ganas de escribir porque me pongo trunky y ahora mismo es uno de estos circunstancias.
ha ha I just ended up writing about half a page in Spanish and had to erase it all. ha ha I didn’t notice that I was doing it. What I said basically is that I have attached some of my favorite pics to this message from the island.
A thought. When we arrived at the isle the other week. we landed on top of a mountain and we had a runway that is super short. If you don’t land perfectly or take off perfectly you end up in the water. In these situations the pilots have to rely completely on the instruments that they have. If they do not follow the radars and everything it is very hard and they say almost impossible to land in time. Our life is the same. If we do not learn now how to properly use the sprit then we will fall off by just one degree and Satan will drag us down into the waters. It’s my prayer that we may all fine tune our ability to listen to the sprit by reading the scriptures everyday, praying, obeying the commandments, and partaking of the sacrament every week. Les amo mucho.

Hola!
Ok so its been a wonderful week. My new companion is named Elder Molifua! He is from California but his dad is from Samoa. He is awesome. We both have the same style of work so naturally we are taking out the trash in our sector!!!!! We are actually planning 4 baptisms for this up coming week. This week was crazy, we first picked up the new Latinos Tuesday and trained them and their trainers and then Wednesday we did it all over again with the North Americans. Then yesterday we had phase 2 training for the new missionaries that got here last change. Also Thursday we had a coordination meeting with President May. It’s an honor to serve with him. So basically we are doing super legit!
Sounds like all is well there. Zack I still can’t believe you hardly even have to go to school ha ha. Keep knocking it out of the park in tennis. Allie you are prolly going to be a pro basket player. ha ha but seriously keep up the good work. Mom, you’re incredible, don't ever forget about that. Dad, keep setting a wonderful example!
So I keep trying to think about school but the truth is that I can’t even think about it for more than like 5 minutes without thinking about the work. I don’t know if it would be possible to just decide afterwards cause man I’m struggling ha ha. Seriously all I want to think about and all I do is the work of the Lord. Any other type of things to think about just doesn't really make me move ha ha. It’s just who I am now and I can’t ever imagine being anyone else. Getting lost in the work truly is an amazing thing. I have never felt the spirit and the love of God so strongly in my life and I will not ever let it go.
Yesterday we stopped to help some guys who were fixing up their yard and were digging a lot and everything and we offered to help and we work really hard for an hour and saved them I think about 2 days worth of work. It just felt so good. Especially to see their eyes light up afterwards when they heard about all we do and why we do it. We are going to teach them today. Hopefully all goes well.
Also this week we found three families to teach. Nothing better than teaching and baptizing families.
"There is no other work in all the world so fraught with happiness as this work. That happiness is peculiar. It comes of serving others. It is real. It is unique. It is wonderful." -President Hinckly I testify that is true.
Love you all and keep up the good work!!!!

Hola from Chile 2 weeks post 02 - 2011
buenos dias familia excelente,
This week has been crazy. Tuesday we went to the airport to send away the missionaries that were ending. That was a powerful experience. Then the same day we picked up those that were just arriving - another powerful experience. Wednesday we had zone leader council. That is always inspiring and spiritual. Its different when you are the one teaching with President May instead of learning from him. My companions name is Elder Romero. Thursday we went to have a planning session with President May. Friday we had phase 2 training for new missionaries and today is p-day. On top of all that our priority is our sector. We normally only have 2 o 3 hours every day but we have 7 investigators with a baptismal date. We have found lots this week actually. I am tired out of my mind but it is really interesting how much strength I have. Even though I am working way more than before I have lots of energy and I have felt my mind quickened and also very sensitive to the spirit. This I could get used to. Also President has already talked to us about staying humble too. In 2 months we are going to change sectors of the office. That means programming everything and moving everything and opening a new sector...ha ha... cry cry lol. Anyways, next week we have 3 zone conferences and a phase 1 training for the new missionaries. Lets get this party started.
Its interesting though, even with so much work, the Lord is truly working miracles in my heart. I love the Lord and all he does for me. Thank you so much to all of you - for your legacy and for example, prayers, and for your love. In these times we are studying a lot about Nephi and his example, I can only hope to have his diligence, faith and obedience in my service.
Wuzzzzzup,
Hey guys. This week has been crazy. Lots of work and lots of assignments ha ha. special changes, 3 conferences, phase 1 training for new missionaries. too much work!! ha ha na just kidding. The more the merrier. I don’t know how to spell merrier...ha ha
Personally I would like to share a story with you all this week that we can all learn. So this week with all of the things that Elder Romero and I have had to do we have not had much time to study. Because 5 out of the 6 days we have gotten up early to prepare things for all of the activities. Actually today was the first day that we had to study. All week we could truly feel a big difference in the things that we did. There was a big loss of the spirit. Even though we were teaching and helping and serving all week long it just wasn’t the same without the spirit and without the studies. So, basically we have decided to just be men and get up even earlier and study bright and early in the morning. So basically what we can learn from this experience is the great importance of daily, every day, not one day missed, scripture study. If we do not study the scriptures we will not have the spirit in our lives and we will slowly be cast out of the presence of God. So please, I beg all of you that if you are not reading every day, start doing it now.
Well sorry that this letter has been kind of boring and short but I gots things to bes doing. ha ha love you all and have a great week.

Hola from Chile 01-24-2011
So basically just like every other week this change my companion has been sick. We went to the doctors today to get him checked out again and one of the old couples working there now worked for 27 years in the FBI. It was really interesting to hear stories and how he just loved it a lot. So basically now I’m going to work in the FBI...ha ha probably not.
This week we were very blessed to have another baptism. Nayeli Maldonado, I’ll send pics. She is a little girl that has wanted to get baptized for a long time now but her mom never gave her permission until we got here and she just changed her mind. We were just truly
blessed to be a part of this girls conversion. Actually here in this
sector we have been really really blessed to see a baptism almost every week. I can really feel the Lords love and blessings here in Gambino. Also it really helps to have a few returned missionaries here in this sector. It gives me lots of ideas for when we are all back there in NC in about 4 or 5 years. The Ward is going to explode with missionary work I think.
Mom I think it would be just a tad cheaper to buy shoes here, the problem is that there is not one single shoe here my size. ha ha last time I tried to buy they all just looked at me like I was crazy. ha ha.
Hey actually I have a question, what are the names of all the new wards/and or branches in our new stake? Any ways, I think I am going to leave you all with a quick thought now.
So I was reading a talk given by Elder Eyring that explains that time is property that God has lent to us. And that with this present we must cherish it and take advantage of it. He explains that if we really new all that we could be doing or should be doing we would never stop doing things. That never ending sense to be better to do something more and be bigger comes from the fact that we are all dying and we are all here with preordained purposes that we must complete. We have promised people we would help them and that we would be serving in certain way. If we really new everything we would not waste time watching TV, playing on the computer so much but rather instead, reading the scriptures, serving a family member, working on eagle scout projects(zf) and doing the Work of the Lord. So my challenge this week is that we take away a little of our "free time" and give a little more "Lord time", for that is what it is what every minute really should be.
Love you all and thanks for all you do!

Buena’s,
This week has been a pretty busy one. My companion has been a little sick so we have been running around to see doctors and all that stuff. Also we had a way sweet mission activity. We went to a big church and played sports for 5 hours so I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ha ha actually we played kickball, football, soccer and basketball. Almost the best day of my life...ha ha. Also Sunday we had another Baptism!!!!!!!!! Gonzalo is his name and he is 27 years old and already has the goal to go to the temple with his girlfriend in one year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha oh man he was so ready to get baptized.
Also we were tracting and we passed by a really nice field and we saw what I thought I would never ever see in Chile...a game of football! Actually it was the championship of the only league in Santiago. haha so we watched for 15 minutes but they were terrible so we just kept going. Then today in the morning my companion and I went to a museum of art...ha ha that was fun...we just pretty much made fun of things...same ol fish
Anyways, I took lots of pics this week so I will get to loading them up.
Mom I will start thinking about those essays. Don’t worry about getting me distracted...impossible...ha ha and if it needs to get done it needs to get done no mas.
Thought:
In first Nephi chapter 11 we learn lots of things, actually one of the things that I learned this week is that true beauty comes from the Love of God. (1 Nephi 11:8) This means that anything joyful, or loving or beautiful in life comes thanks to and because of and with the love of God. Then we learn in verse 22-23 that the love of God is the highest joy that any man can feel or experience. We also learn from the scriptures that joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, and so, the best feelings, the highest joy, the most amazing experiences of happiness in life can only come to us if we have and are living worthy of the Holy Spirit. If we as sons and daughter of the living God wish to experience and feel his love then we must of necessity, seek the company of the Spirit. In other words, to be happy in life we must, go to church, partake of the sacrament, pray daily, read the scriptures, do our visiting and home teaching, pay our tithing, fast, serve others, share the gospel, etc, etc, etc. This is why living the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most important thing for us in our lives, because it is the only thing that will truly bring the spirit in our lives. And so it is the only thing that can truly make us happy in our lives. May we all search for better ways to have the Spirit in our lives. Love you all and can’t wait to hear from you next week!

Feliz Navidad! 12-20-10
Feliz Navidad!
Wow thank you so so much for your letters! Actually in a few parts I teared up a bit...ok so I cried ha ha leave me alone! lol but seriously thanks so much, you all do a wonderful job writing your letters.
It’s amazing to think how much you have all changed and progressed! Sitting here reading about you all and how you’re doing and what you are all doing really gave me an opportunity to feel the tender mercies of the Lord this Christmas season. This week has been a busy one yet again. The best part of all was being able to see it a little white here in Chile too because we saw Camila Quitana receive the bountiful mercies of the Lord through Baptism. So we also enjoyed a white Christmas here. Also we had changes, now I am here with Elder Valencia. He is a 3 year convert and the only member of his family. He is from Chala Ecuador. Really funny.
I’m not going to lie I am way excited to talk to you all this Saturday. Just to here your voices and hear your love is something extra special then only read them. The family is called Familia Muler.
Hey it’s awesome to hear about Spence. Tell that boy to write me a stinkin letter. ha ha and send me a photo! Great to hear about our cousins, that was one of the parts I teared up knowing how they are doing. Saturday we will talk more about the whole college thing. I got my package last week!
Spiritual thought
The other day we were doing a contact and a man told me that people don’t really understand Christmas because they think it is all about giving presents and they really don’t understand what Christmas means. I told him that he was wrong. My companion thought I was just messing with him so he started to giggle a little bit. Then I continued to explain something that came to my mind. After a series of several questions I asked him what relation giving gifts had to do with our Savior. He responded a little surprised saying our Savior gave us the greatest gift of all, the Atonement. He was surprised because it finally occurred to him what the importance of giving was with Christmas. Then I proceeded to explain that the type of giving we should be doing is not necessarily in the material things, whereas the things that we should rather be giving in Christmas time and throughout all out lives is all our time, talents and efforts to building up the Kingdom of God. I explained to him about the gift of the Holy Ghost and the Gift of Eternal life, the two greatest gifts que hay. Then I testified that if we truly love the Savior that we will give him our time this Christmas. We have an appointment with him this Saturday; I’ll tell you how it goes ha ha. But my point that I want to make is that I want to invite all of you this Christmas to
Give a little more Christ. CHRISTmas (Mas means more in spanish)

This week was a fun one. We have been running around crazy teaching and finding. Actually we have been really focusing on confirming a young lady named Elizabeth. We went to stop by her house sunday to make sure she arrived on time and we arrived right before they started the sacrament hyme and my companioln was making lots of hand motions to stop the m to do the confirmation and the members thought he was dancing rigatone ha ha. it was funny. and in the end she got confirmed so its all good. Also i gave a super spiritual blessing to my comapanion yetsterday to help him with some things. way cool.
Information about the call...we know nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha all i know is it should be the same as last time. We will email you the number of a member and a time to call and then you can call us. yes i am still in the city. i have already been in the two country sones so unless i get sent to the office, or the island then i will be here till the end i think. but the island is closed so i dont know what will happen there.
"Recently one of the trees in the front of the mission home fell down during a heavy rain. The tree was one of the biggest and tallest of all of the trees in the front yard. It measured more than 48 feet tall with the diameter of the trunk being more than 2 feet. Apparently the weight of water soak leaves and oversaturated soil combined with a strong wind caused the tree to topple over. Evidently the tree did not have roots sufficiently thick and deep enough to keep the tree from falling. Because the yard has been watered regularly throughout the years, the roots were able to supply the needed water to the tree without having to grow thick and deep into the ground to find water."
We must grow out the roots of our testimony. If we do not then when the windy and rainy temptations of satan come upon us then we will surely fall. THis week my invitation to you all is to think about what you can do to grow our your testimony roots.

Family!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so this week has been awesome. Really busy actually. Sounds like you all had a wonderfull week! Zack teaching like a Pro, allie ballin it up congrats on starting captain that’s awesome!!!!!! Remodeling MY house...not approved...lol jk...but seriously. Dad kicking butt at church service as usual and mom being superwomen. I am always so happy to read your letters.
This week has been awesome!!!! ha ha my companion was sick all week so I went on changes with the members to work, lol I don’t even know the sector. But we were super super successful. WE found a joven that had been to church 4 times and wanted to get baptized...and we baptized her yesterday. Lol so we pretty much arrived to our sector and in one week achieved a baptism. Tender Mercies of the Lord. Also we have 3 lined up for this week that are coming and 2 for the last week of this month. Ha ha my leaders are very pleased with us. lol but really I haven’t done anything. Just the normal things, talk with the bishop and lots of members and everyone in the street. It’s kind of our job. Also something unusual in the mission is that our district is 6 missionaries. Usually it’s just four, and 2 are sister missionaries. These are the first sister missionaries to be in the zone for 10 years cause it’s really dangerous...I’ve got work to do. ha ha but it’s all good. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Also this week as missionaries we have a conference with Elder Cobrige of the Seventy!!!!! And he will come to our stake conference also this Sunday!!!!! yessssssssssssssss ha ha
Something that I shared with the Sisters this week, D & C 122. The Lord gives us all kinds of challenges for our own good. So that we can learn and grow and be stronger and better people. God loves us and wants us to grow. If we have a hard challenge it is because God loves us and trusts us so much that He knows we can do it. He does it so we become closer to Christ our Savior and his atonement. May we all overcome our challenges through the atonement of Christ our Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

P.S. mom for the package, candy for the members and letters and pics. not much else. I’m fine. I am in the mish, what more could I ask for
