Hola from Chile 07 - 11 - 11

Thanks for the letter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it will be the last one. And this will probably be my last one as well. Sounds like everyone had a good and peaceful week. We had an excellent one here! Actually we were able to see some very exciting miracles

So, in our mission when I was assistant we established "normas" for the mission. Basically it is a resumen of some key indicators that were very high and excellent for a week. Something that with time Elder Molifua and I started to achieve them every week and baptize every week but it has been something that the mission has been slow to catch on. All want to get them but not many have been able to do them. Only zone leaders and assistants. So, this whole change Elder Lucic and I have been going to town to achieve them and this week we did it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep - an amazing week. Also we have been fighting to have a baptism our last Sunday in the field. Well she had to come to church this Sunday to get baptized and for some other reasons she didn’t choose to come and so we were a little disappointed but continued working anyways and yesterday we visited 2 sisters of a member who recently lost there dad to cancer. We had a way spiritual lesson with them and not only did they choose to get baptized but they chose to do it immediately - next Sunday will be a special one.

Anyways, so this week we have the goal as a companionship to do more contacts then everyone in the mission - 200 or more - we will see how that goes.

So to answer a few questions - invite whoever wants to come to the airport, it will be cool. Really the only thing that’s important is that you all are there but if others wish to come they are welcome. Afterwards I want to eat lunch at Zaxbys!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha yep. Then I figure we can just have a simple afternoon to talk and have an intense planning session to get organized.

Anyways, love you all! Can’t wait to see you soon!!

April 1, 2011

So this week was good. Real busy but really good too. Actually mom we def knew about Obama coming to Chile, it was all everybody talked about all the time ha ha. Actually he passed right in front of the office where we are serving. Ha ha we saw his lemo!!!!!!!! I am so jealous that you all went to the beach ha ha. Pretty cool though. Sounds like Zack is kicken names and taken butts in tennis with the Camster ha ha ata boy.

So this week was really good. We feel really good about the work we are doing. We are achieving in our sector what no other assistant has achieved here since we arrived. We firmly believe in giving the example for the missionaries and it is really paying off. Today we had a meeting with all the zone leaders and it was a really good one too. President actually asked us right on the spot to give a 40 minute lesson together on the needs of the mission and guide it in a council. That was unexpected but way fun. President doesn't normally give missionaries opportunities to do that. It was a challenge but a great learning opportunity. Also many missionaries have come up to us and thanked us for our example. President personally thanked us this week too. Hopefully we can elevate and inspire the mission to do
more. We feel very blessed...and tired out of our
mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But that’s ok

This next month is going to be a really busy one. Every week we are going to be going to all the zones and while President has interviews we are going to give 2 hour training lessons with every zone, in the end we will have trained 9 zones and 171 missionaries...cry cry...pray for sleep. But we love it

So I am way excited for general conference this week!!!!!!!!!!! You all have no idea!!!! ha ha actually I feel like a nerd kinda but that's ok cause its a good kind of nerd.

I love you all..........a lot.

Spiritual thought this week by Pres. May (cambiado un poco)

I recently had an interesting experience that taught me a great lesson. About six months ago I accidentally left the lights on in my car as I went in for an appointment. When I came back out to start the car the battery was dead. I was able to have the battery recharged and the car functioned just fine. However, I had to readjust the clock in the car to show the right time. I did not know how to do it so I looked in the car´s manual of instruction for help. As I read the instructions, I learned how to do it. You have to select certain buttons and then enter a particular code to be able to access the menu which allows you to set the clock at the correct time. Once you enter the code, you can easily reset the clock.

buenos dias!!!!!

Ha ha funny question you had to start out this week mom cause it was the same question that I asked my companion this morning. ha ha the time goes by way too fast. Sounds like everyone is doing awesome there in Carolina. The only other elder from north Carolina in the mission went home Monday, Elder Wiggins, so I’m the only one now ha ha. All my wishes of luck today in basketball. It must be fun to see and meet new wards and teams. That must be a blast. Also congrats to grandma and grandpa, sounds like they got hooked up ha ha. That’s crazy about how many days of school you all have missed...Saturday school? Ha ha that’s crazy. Sounds like you will still be in school by the time get back ha ha.

So this week was a really really busy week and it went really really well. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we went to different zones to do interviews and also to teach a capacitation to the Elders in there respective zones. Then Friday we had interchanges, Monday we had our normal meeting with President May so all is well. Ha ha basically everyday is like the busiest day of my life cause we also have to have the most successful sector in the mission at the same time. Our teaching has been way awesome in the zones. We are talking a lot about planning and the importance of planning and especially planning well. We had the spirit, human pyramids, doctrine, ha ha it was great. Hopefully it will help us a lot as a mission. The missionaries left really excited everyday so we will see how it went. This week we are going to have Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday doing the same. Interviews and teaching. Ha ha we are really lacking in the whole sleep thing. Getting up early and in bed late everyday really starts to get to you after a while. Then the next week after that we are going to have 3 special conferences so that will be even crazier. Ha ha...help me...cry cry. lol no jk we are all good.

Ha ha so Dad if there is anything I would say to the youth, would be serve a mission. It’s not important if you are a boy or girl, if you do it, you will leave as a true disciple of Christ. The knowledge, experience, and testimony that they will gain while serving will prove as a strong foundation for this life and for all eternity. The mission has changed my life, and saved the lives of my future family. Go early, But it’s never too late. I have learned of the importance of families, especially how much I love mine and therefore the importance of the temples too. I know and love the prophet Joseph Smith and testify that the Restoration really truly occurred. More importantly I Know my Savior lives, I know he loves me. He loves my family, He is my family. He suffered for and died for us but more importantly He lived again for us that we might all live again. And that is why I understand why we have to be obedient with exactness, because as we do our very best, Christ and his grace can save us, but if we do not do our best, we are alone.

Ok so I basically just started rambling there but use what you want if it can help you.

Love you all a bunch seriously.

Family,

Due to the following circumstances your son sill not be writing to you today...na just kidding, ha ha could you imagine. Ok so we are going to have different day to write family next week but we are not sure when but I think it will be Monday the 4th.

So this week was a really good week. We have been focused and taking it to town in our sector and we are going to have a baptism tomorrow. Ha ha we are going to be blessed to have four different baptisms this week. Seriously blessing from the Lord. If you are willing to work and serve the Lord will give you opportunities to do it ha ha. Also we had training for the new missionaries that just got here. It was pretty sweet. Great spirit always. Presidente is going to come to our baptisms tomorrow. It is going to be amazing. Mom in my b-day package if you haven’t already assembled stuff I could use a tie or 2 and some more peanut butter...I’m addicted. But not too much stuff cause I truly don’t need anything I’m all good. But my companion is addicted to hot cheetos so if you sent him a little surprise he would die of gratitude ha ha.

Elder Molifua is prolly one of the best companions that I have had. Nice, Funny, Obedient, just wants to work hard. And he loves sports, it just doesn’t get any better than that. And his girlfriend is hott and I get back b4 him...yesssssssssssssssss ha ha jk...but seriously

Spiritual thought.
"there is not one less active member in the church that reads the Book of Mormon every day" that’s a saying we use a lot in the mission that I love. It’s true. You will not find one less active member in the world that is reading the Book of Mormon every day. So, if you don’t want your family, friends, associates to go inactive, make sure they read the Book of Mormon every day. No excuses. I remember when I would read the BOM at 12 or 1 at night, it wasn’t easy but I did it cause I felt and knew that I had to. I am so grateful for those times, it was in those times where the Lord could see and gain control over my heart, if we are to give control of our hearts over to the Lord, it starts with the basics, read EVERY day and pray EVERY day and ALWAYS go to church. Love you tons

also:

So first imagine you can see a man trying to go up the automatic escalators that go down. We have all done it in our lives ha ha. But there is an interesting principle that we can learn. As a man starts to go up the escalators he must constantly be moving his legs and putting an effort to get to the top. But what happens if he stops to rest for a second? Does he stay were he is? No. Instead of staying where he is he starts to go down. He loses progress and the journey becomes longer and harder. If we in this life are not always looking for ways to progress more in the gospel, serve, learn something from the BOM, love more, visiting teaching, tithing, fast offering, whatever it may be - if we are not constantly progressing then we are constantly loosing our testimonies. We are either taking a step towards God or towards Satan, there is no gray.

Week 3/14/2011

This week has been a good one. So we are pretty much tired out of our minds but I wouldn’t have it any other way ha ha. Something amazing about the conferences is that between the first and the last one I had learned and changed it so much that it was not even close to the same (I had to teach for an hour to all just by myself). It was a really neat experience. This week coming up we have changes...I think my companion is going...and then Monday we have to supervise the changes...and then Tuesday we have to pick up new missionaries...10 I don’t know how we are going to do that with two cars ha ha and then on Friday we have to train the new missionaries that just got here ha ha. I love my job lol.

Anyways, I’m not sure if I have told you guys yet but the office is changing location while I’m here and so starting now we need to send packages to the following address " Sucursal Correo Patronato, cassila 60. I have no idea what I want for my b-day you will have to give me a week to think about it.

Go heels! ha ha that a baby.
la verdad es que a veces cuando escribo pierdo ganas de escribir porque me pongo trunky y ahora mismo es uno de estos circunstancias.

ha ha I just ended up writing about half a page in Spanish and had to erase it all. ha ha I didn’t notice that I was doing it. What I said basically is that I have attached some of my favorite pics to this message from the island.

A thought. When we arrived at the isle the other week. we landed on top of a mountain and we had a runway that is super short. If you don’t land perfectly or take off perfectly you end up in the water. In these situations the pilots have to rely completely on the instruments that they have. If they do not follow the radars and everything it is very hard and they say almost impossible to land in time. Our life is the same. If we do not learn now how to properly use the sprit then we will fall off by just one degree and Satan will drag us down into the waters. It’s my prayer that we may all fine tune our ability to listen to the sprit by reading the scriptures everyday, praying, obeying the commandments, and partaking of the sacrament every week. Les amo mucho.

Week 3/21/2011

Hola!

Ok so its been a wonderful week. My new companion is named Elder Molifua! He is from California but his dad is from Samoa. He is awesome. We both have the same style of work so naturally we are taking out the trash in our sector!!!!! We are actually planning 4 baptisms for this up coming week. This week was crazy, we first picked up the new Latinos Tuesday and trained them and their trainers and then Wednesday we did it all over again with the North Americans. Then yesterday we had phase 2 training for the new missionaries that got here last change. Also Thursday we had a coordination meeting with President May. It’s an honor to serve with him. So basically we are doing super legit!

Sounds like all is well there. Zack I still can’t believe you hardly even have to go to school ha ha. Keep knocking it out of the park in tennis. Allie you are prolly going to be a pro basket player. ha ha but seriously keep up the good work. Mom, you’re incredible, don't ever forget about that. Dad, keep setting a wonderful example!

So I keep trying to think about school but the truth is that I can’t even think about it for more than like 5 minutes without thinking about the work. I don’t know if it would be possible to just decide afterwards cause man I’m struggling ha ha. Seriously all I want to think about and all I do is the work of the Lord. Any other type of things to think about just doesn't really make me move ha ha. It’s just who I am now and I can’t ever imagine being anyone else. Getting lost in the work truly is an amazing thing. I have never felt the spirit and the love of God so strongly in my life and I will not ever let it go.

Yesterday we stopped to help some guys who were fixing up their yard and were digging a lot and everything and we offered to help and we work really hard for an hour and saved them I think about 2 days worth of work. It just felt so good. Especially to see their eyes light up afterwards when they heard about all we do and why we do it. We are going to teach them today. Hopefully all goes well.

Also this week we found three families to teach. Nothing better than teaching and baptizing families.

"There is no other work in all the world so fraught with happiness as this work. That happiness is peculiar. It comes of serving others. It is real. It is unique. It is wonderful." -President Hinckly I testify that is true.

Love you all and keep up the good work!!!!

Hola from Chile 2 weeks post 02 - 2011

buenos dias familia excelente,

This week has been crazy. Tuesday we went to the airport to send away the missionaries that were ending. That was a powerful experience. Then the same day we picked up those that were just arriving - another powerful experience. Wednesday we had zone leader council. That is always inspiring and spiritual. Its different when you are the one teaching with President May instead of learning from him. My companions name is Elder Romero. Thursday we went to have a planning session with President May. Friday we had phase 2 training for new missionaries and today is p-day. On top of all that our priority is our sector. We normally only have 2 o 3 hours every day but we have 7 investigators with a baptismal date. We have found lots this week actually. I am tired out of my mind but it is really interesting how much strength I have. Even though I am working way more than before I have lots of energy and I have felt my mind quickened and also very sensitive to the spirit. This I could get used to. Also President has already talked to us about staying humble too. In 2 months we are going to change sectors of the office. That means programming everything and moving everything and opening a new sector...ha ha... cry cry lol. Anyways, next week we have 3 zone conferences and a phase 1 training for the new missionaries. Lets get this party started.

Its interesting though, even with so much work, the Lord is truly working miracles in my heart. I love the Lord and all he does for me. Thank you so much to all of you - for your legacy and for example, prayers, and for your love. In these times we are studying a lot about Nephi and his example, I can only hope to have his diligence, faith and obedience in my service.

Wuzzzzzup,

Hey guys. This week has been crazy. Lots of work and lots of assignments ha ha. special changes, 3 conferences, phase 1 training for new missionaries. too much work!! ha ha na just kidding. The more the merrier. I don’t know how to spell merrier...ha ha

Personally I would like to share a story with you all this week that we can all learn. So this week with all of the things that Elder Romero and I have had to do we have not had much time to study. Because 5 out of the 6 days we have gotten up early to prepare things for all of the activities. Actually today was the first day that we had to study. All week we could truly feel a big difference in the things that we did. There was a big loss of the spirit. Even though we were teaching and helping and serving all week long it just wasn’t the same without the spirit and without the studies. So, basically we have decided to just be men and get up even earlier and study bright and early in the morning. So basically what we can learn from this experience is the great importance of daily, every day, not one day missed, scripture study. If we do not study the scriptures we will not have the spirit in our lives and we will slowly be cast out of the presence of God. So please, I beg all of you that if you are not reading every day, start doing it now.

Well sorry that this letter has been kind of boring and short but I gots things to bes doing. ha ha love you all and have a great week.
